2015 Buick Enclave Transmission Repair in Bowling Green, KY

It seems a lot of people in the Bowling Green area like Buick vehicles, especially the Enclave line up. It seems to work well for that stereotypical "Soccer Mom" vehicle, having two rows of seating and plenty of room for the family. That being said, the transmissions in them fail all the same. In the case listed today, the dreaded "Chevy Shimmy" is present, otherwise known as a Torque Converter failure. So the customer brings their vehicle to us explaining that it feels like she is running over rumble strips at around 40mph. We take a look, and of course it is the Torque Converter.

The first step to solving our customers issues, take the transmission out of the vehicle. Second step, take it apart and inspect for any internal damage. The transmission in this particular vehicle is called a 6T70, it is apart of GM's lineup for front wheel drive transmissions. There are several failure points within it, but of course the primary one is the Torque Converter. So we got the transmission out of the vehicle, and taken apart. After inspecting all of the internal clutches, accumulators, valve body, and planetaries, we come to the conclusion that the only failure point in this unit is the Torque Converter. This is great new, now we can save our customer thousands of dollars and just do basic transmission repairs.

What is a basic repair? Well in our case, we deep clean the entire transmission, and replace all of the seals. After, we do all of the standard updates to prevent the most common failures with that transmission. In this instance, we put in a new Valve body, a wave plate in the back of the transmission, filter, a brand new Torque Converter (TC), and an update to the programming of the vehicle. The update prevents the TC from engaging in every single gear, and helps the longevity of the vehicle. After doing these updates, our customer was back on the road and happy as can be driving to all of her soccer events!
